NCCEFT Quarterly Meeting

Roadmap to EFT Certification

Presented by:
Erin Findley, Psy.D., Advanced EFT Therapist

SUBJECT:

Emotionally Focused Therapy is an extremely rewarding and effective way of helping distressed couples. However, there are many therapists who struggle to bridge the gap between Advanced training and Certification. Roadblocks to Certification often include lack of clarity on the Certification process, an unclear sense of the value of Certification, and difficulties obtaining good enough certification videos.

Through the use of video demonstrations, small group discussions, and a large panel discussion featuring Certified Supervisors and Certified Therapists from the NCCEFT Community, we will explore the Certification process from beginning to end, clarifying steps that are unclear and making the intimidating steps more approachable in order to help participants see how valuable and achievable Certification can be.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
Participants will:
  • Participants will be able to describe the complete Certification process.
  • Participants will discuss the value of EFT Certification in their own clinical practices.
  • Participants will be able to analyze potential certification videos and identify how to address potential shortfalls in the videos.

PRESENTERS:

Erin Findley, Psy.D. is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist who developed a passion for helping couples when she and her husband became presenters in a weekend premarital education workshop called Basics4Marriage in 2009. In her private practice in Lafayette, CA, Dr. Findley specializes in helping couples who have high-stress jobs, chronic health issues, or individual histories of trauma using Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT). Dr. Findley has earned Advanced training status in EFT and is actively pursuing Certification.

In addition to working with couples, Dr. Findley also works with creative and artistic individuals. Her background as a semi-professional opera singer gives her enormous compassion for the unique struggles faced by artists. She knows first-hand how performance, critiques, and showings can trigger extreme vulnerability, stuck places, and poor habits. As a result, she helps artists reignite their passion, overcome performance issues, and work through creative blocks as well as addressing procrastination, depression, anxiety, relationship issues, and addiction.

Dr. Findley earned her Masters and Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the American School for Professional Psychology at Argosy University, where her dissertation research focused on the use of premarital education by couples preparing for remarriage without children. In addition to her psychology degrees, Dr. Findley has a Masters of Music in Vocal Performance from Southern Methodist University and a Bachelors of Music in Vocal Performance from University of the Pacific.
